Tom Sutherland

I'm a PhD student of Tom Bridgeland in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Sheffield.

As of January 2014 I am a Research Associate on the EPSRC grant "Stability conditions and hypermultiplet space".

In 2012 I participated in the Junior Research Trimester in Mathematical Physics at the Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics in Bonn.

Between 2010 and 2012 I was a visiting student at the Mathematical Institute at the Univeristy of Oxford.

Sheffield algebraic geometry lectureship: A lectureship in algebraic geometry at the University of Sheffield is currently advertised with closing date 24th March.

Conferences and Seminars

I am a former organiser of the Calf, a traveling algebraic geometry seminar for graduate students which meets about five times a year.

I'm keeping a list of meetings I'm planning to attend. There is also an archive of past events.

Things I've written

The modular curve as the space of stability conditions of a CY3 algebra - This preprint describes the space of stability conditions of the Ginzburg algebra of the A2 via the periods of the Seiberg-Witten differential on a family of elliptic curves.

Etale Cohomology - This is the essay I wrote as a Part III student in Cambridge. In theory it should be understandable to someone with a first course in algebraic geometry. It will not be free of errors as it was written in a short space of time, but it might give an idea of what a Part III essay is like.
